married with two children. He is an insurance manager and a certified trainer
for Registered
Financial Planner professional course.
He has professional qualifications such as Registered Financial Planner， Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner, Chartered Life Practitioner, Chartered Agency & Practice Manager and Chartered Investment & Finance Practitioner.
If Tan is elected and Barisan National wins back
Penang state,
his vision for Bagan Jermal is:-

low-cost homes for Bagan Jermal folks
2. Refund
to temples that purchased land from Penang Government after 2008
3. Free
tuition classes for needy children
4. Annual
Youth Carnival
5. Mini
parks and recreation club for senior citizens
6. Legal Aid office in Bagan Jermal
7. Sports complex with hall and badminton, futsal
and table tennis facilities
8. Centre for special needs children
Having
been involved in the United Youth Movement of Malaysia (GBBM) when he
was just 16, Tan joined MCA when he was 19 and there is no looking back
since.
He is
currently MCA Bagan Division Secretary, MCA Taman
Mewah branch chief, MCA Bagan Division Youth Vice Chief, MCA Taman
Mewah branch deputy Youth Chief and Barisan National Bagan Division Secretary.
Besides that, he also holds several positions in non-governmental organisations like Chairman of Persatuan Perayaan Yulan Seberang Perai, Assistant Secretary of Penang Chinese Town Hall, Branch Chairman of National Association of Malaysian Life Insurance & Financial Advisor for Penang, Kedah and Perlis from 2006-2010, Assistant Secretary and Immediate Past Youth Chief of Persatuan Tan Si Eng Chuan Tong Seberang Perai, Board Administrator of SJK (C) Chung Hwa II and Chairman of Kawasan Rukun Tetangga Taman Mawar.
