Mad at Guan Eng for bad-mouthing MCA

BUTTERWORTH – A supporter of Ong Tee Keat charged at a dinner table where Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was seated and criticised him for allegedly bad-mouthing the MCA president.

“Guan Eng made unreasonable comments about my party at a public gathering, where members from various political parties were present.

“It was not a political forum and he was out of line,” Bagan MCA division Youth chief David Chua told national daily The Star on Monday, when asked about his action.

Whisked away before matters turned ugly

The incident happened at about 9.45pm on Sunday, after Guan Eng delivered a brief speech and had returned to the VIP table at the dinner function organised by the Taman Dedap/ Jalan 6 Phor Thor temple committee.

Chua stood at the VIP table and also asked state executive councilor and Bagan Jermal assemblyman Lim Hock Seng why the MCA was condemned in such a manner.

“Luckily, a few friends quickly whisked me away before matters turned ugly,” the MCA loyalist said.

'He came rushing at us'

Hock Seng, when contacted by the daily, claimed that apart from charging forward in a threatening manner, Chua also shook the table as if he wanted to overturn it.

“Chua, seated three or four tables away, suddenly came rushing towards us,” he said.

Asked about the incident when Guan Eng was a visiting the KPJ Penang Specialist Hospital in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam on National Day, the chief minister said he was surprised by Chua’s action.
