BUTTERWORTH: An MCA leader here has advised a non-governmental organisation here to stop criticising Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng as it will do more harm than good to Barisan Nasional.
Bagan MCA Youth chief David Chua said Lim had been given the mandate to lead Penang and Suara Anak-Anak Malaysia chairman Mohamed Ghani Abdul Jiman should respect this.
“Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has been trying hard to win the hearts of the people and the continuous attacks by the NGO will not augur well for the Barisan,” said Chua, who is Bagan Barisan division coordinator.
He expressed surprise that leaders from PKR and PAS, DAP's allies in Pakatan Rakyat, had not defended Lim.
Chua added that Ghani should contest against Lim in the general election if he felt the chief minister was not doing his job.
Reacting to Chua's comments, Ghani told him to “keep quiet”.
“I have not done anything wrong,” said Ghani, adding that he was not siding the Barisan nor was he “sponsored” by anyone to criticise Lim.
“It is a personal quarrel between us,” he said, claiming he had been victimised by the state government over the issue of trading lots at Komtar.
Ghani has consistently caused a stir with his protests against Lim.
In late July, his NGO presented a gift in the form of a pair of brassieres and a leopard-spotted pair of panties to the chief minister.
Ghani, in the past, had also challenged Lim to a physical fight.
On Dec 8, Ghani was stopped by security guards at Komtar from delivering four sponge cakes in the shape of human excreta to Lim on his 51st birthday.
